NIGER
Sundries for Sale
On sale in the Torodi market...peanuts, dates, cake, and traditional medicine. The rectangular sticks are traditional toothbrushes!
While the Torodi market is open every day, there is also a weekly Friday market attended by people from the smaller surrounding villages, who bring food, vegetables, livestock, and other goods to sell, and who come to the market to buy the things that they need, as well as to see friends and family from other villages. This photo was taken during the Friday market.
Torodi is 60 kilometers southwest of Niger's capital, Niamey, and is on the main road linking Niamey and Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.
