Behind the Photography Scenes:

ISO 200 and an aperture of f/20 were just the right combination to give me a shutter speed of 4.0 sec. This slower shutter speed meant that the camera captured the carnival ride as it revolved, resulting in the blur of color shown here. The effect also gives the impression that the ride is spinning very fast, whereas it was actually moving quite slowly.

If you have a camera which allows you to select the shutter speed, put it on a tripod and try this technique out yourself to creatively express movement.
