"Carnival Ghosts"

Behind the Photography Scenes:

ISO 100 and an aperture of f/13 were just the right combination to give me a shutter speed of 4.0 sec. My objective in this photo was to express the movement of people at the carnival. The longer shutter speed meant that the people were captured as ghostly streaks and blurs. The streaks in the sky are also people walking past the camera, as the tripod was set at a fairly low level, aiming upwards.

If you have a camera which allows you to select the shutter speed, put it on a tripod and try this technique out yourself to creatively express movement.
