SOUTH SUDAN

This photo depicts a typical South Sudanese family talking about malaria and how it can be easily prevented by sleeping under a long lasting insecticide treated mosquito net every night. The mosquito net shown was distributed by the US-based non-profit organization, Population Services International, and the photo taken as part of an advertising campaign for the Serena brand of mosquito nets.

Malaria kills up to 40,000 people every year in South Sudan. It is the leading cause of death of children under five. Sadly, it is also easily prevented simply by sleeping under an insecticide-treated mosquito net every night.
