"Serenity at Mount Kilimanjaro"

Photo of wildebeest serenely marching across the African plains in front of Tanzania's majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro

This mountain is six thousand metres tall,
I think you'll agree it's not small.
The main peak Kibo has a smaller brother Mawenzi,
The Chagga believe that he lost his head in a frenzy.

I'm sure on the roof of Africa it's very cold,
To go up there you would have to be very bold.
If you go on the safe route,
You will come across all sorts of fruit.

The hard route, with it's ice fields and it's barren land,
If you don't take a grip on something with your hand,
You will fall on volcanic rock, ash and sand.

The Chagga porters and climbers go up and down all day long,
To pass the time they often sing a song.
